1. Sleep in total darkness. Studies have shown that people who sleep in total darkness sleep better than those who sleep with the lights on. This is because darkness helps increase the production of a hormone called melatonin which can help individuals fall asleep faster and sleep better.

2. Do not eat before sleeping. Eating before sleeping can cause sleeplessness because of the body trying to digest the food that has been consumed. Make it a habit to eat your dinner before eight in the evening and not to consume anything solid after. When you feel hungry at nigh time what you can do is a eat a piece of fruit or simply drink water or caffeine-free herbal tea.

3. Do not work before sleeping. Some people have the habit of working immediately before sleeping. This is not a good habit because you are not putting your mind in a relaxed state before sleeping when you tend your work. To avoid working before sleeping, then do not put your work desk or computer inside your bed room.
